Astley Students Are Simply Sensational

For the third year in succession, Seaton Valley students are celebrating their school’s best ever results. Astley Community High School, in Seaton Delaval has, once again, broken all previous examination success records at GCSE.

A staggering 92 percent of students in year 11 achieved 5A*-C grades, an improvement of 9% on last year’s figure, whilst 56% achieved 5A*-C grades including Mathematics and English, an improvement of 3% on last year.

A significant number of students secured top grades across the board and the vast majority of these are already looking forward to returning to Astley, in September, to continue their studies in the sixth form.

Headteacher, Ian Knight, retires this year after being in post at Astley for ten years. He is thrilled that the results are outstanding and that he is leaving the school on such a high. He said “We are extremely proud of this strong set of results which, demonstrates the added value that we provide. The student’s dedication to hard work, alongside the unrelenting support of our staff and parents, has shone through yet again. Astley has always promoted the idea that all students should fulfil their potential, enjoy themselves and be valued as individuals whilst at the school. I am sure this will continue in the future at Astley”.
