Admissions for Schools
F.A.Q

Attending Astley Community High School

Parents and carers are entitled to express a preference about which school their son/daughter should attend.

Admissions to Year 9 at Astley Community High School are organised by the Local Authority.

For pupils in Year 9 attending schools in Blyth Valley, parents will be given the opportunity to express their preferred choice in the Autumn Term.

For further information about admissions, or to make an appointment to view the school during a normal school day, please contact, Mrs A. Rhodes, at the school (0191-2371505).

Visiting The School

There will be an Open Evening on Tuesday October 13th 2009. During the evening the Headteacher will explain to prospective parents and pupils why Astley is a good school. In addition there will be the chance to meet staff and current pupils in teaching areas and to see the resources available at Astley.

There will also be Open Day on Wednesday and Thursday October 14th and 15th 2009 that will provide an opportunity for interested parents to view the school with their sons/daughters.

All pupils who express an interest in attending the school from September 2010 will be invited to spend a week with us from July 5th. This will enable pupils to get a feel for the school and to meet and spend time with their form teacher and form class.

Parents will be invited to an evening meeting on Thursday July 1st 2010 during which they will be introduced to staff and will learn more about the school and, in particular, the role of the form tutor.

Parents and pupils wishing to visit the school at other times will be very welcome to do so.
