Youth Services The Youth Service operates from Astley Community High School. We have an office base on site which is in the Sixth Form/Youth Block area of the school. Northumberland Youth Service is divided into four areas that cover the whole county. Seaton Valley is part of the South East Area Team which covers Seaton Valley, Cramlington and Blyth. We follow a youth work curriculum which is based on the Every Child Matters outcomes for young people.
What is Available?
We deliver a range of regular sessions for young people and details of all we currently offer are displayed in the ‘What’s On’ table below.
Responding to Need
In addition to the regular programme, we aim to respond to young people’s needs and embrace local opportunities. We recently had the pleasure of being involved in a project at Seaton Delaval Hall which gave young people the opportunity to develop tours for members of the public. This proved to be a fabulous experience for young people and allowed them the chance to develop a range of skills including working as a team, dealing with the public, public speaking and more.
To learn more about our current activities and unique projects, check out our monthly Newsletters in the ‘Quick Links’ section.
Who Supervises the Young People
The activities we deliver are supervised by a team of qualified and experienced Youth Workers. They are there to build relationships with young people as well as to organise activities. In addition, they offer access to information advice and support on a range of issues.
Other Opportunities
As well as the sessions that we already deliver, we also support young people in accessing Keyfund so they can develop their own projects and ideas. We are eager to listen to young people's suggestions for future projects and activities. Young people are welcome to call into the Youth Office to speak to the Youth Workers at any time.
