For all pupils at Astley Community High School, the appropriate careers guidance is seen as a priority. The main Careers Library is situated on the first floor of the community library. Careers education is organised by the Mrs Walmsley and supported by Connexions.

Mrs. Walmsley’s office, situated on the first floor near the Library, is equipped with a computer with the latest careers guidance software. In addition all careers programmes are networked across the school's system giving multiple access to information.

The library contains the latest printed information and reference books as well as a large selection of careers videos.

Careers is taught as part of the tutorial programme followed by all pupils from Year 9 until they leave school at the end of Years 11, 12 or 13.

In Year 11, all pupils currently have a week Work Experience which is organised through Project Trident.

All Year 11 pupils will be able to have an individual careers interview with our Personal Advisers. In addition, there will be separate interviews with the Head of Sixth Form and Senior Staff regarding opportunities available at the end of formal schooling.

The Personal Advisers also offers individual interviews to pupils in other year groups on request.

When KS4 and A-level results come out in August, staff including Connexions are available in school to give careers advice and guidance with regards to employment or further and higher education. Careers education is organised by the Careers teacher and supported by Connexions.
